Naomi Campbell was sentenced today to 200 hours of community service for her assault on a British policeman. Back in April Naomi Campbell was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct when she attacked two policeman at Londons Heathrow Airport.
The whole thing started when she boarded a plane to fly to the US. The pilot came back to the first class cabin and explained to her that one of her bags hadn’t been loaded onto the plane. When he tried to explain what she needed to do about it she flew into a rage and started calling him names, ordering him to get off the plane and find her bag, and calling him a rascist.
The flight crew became so concerned with her actions that they called the police to have her removed from the airplane. When the police arrived Naomi Campbell refused to move and when one of the officers attempted to force her to get up and leave the plane, she flew into a rage, yelling at them, calling them rascists, and swinging at the police. She hit one officer and kicked another with her stiletto heels. The situation reached it’s climax when she spit on one of the policeman. At that point she was arrested and forcibly removed from the plane.
If you are curious as to why they reacted so strongly when Naomi Campbell spit on them, remember that we live in a dangerous new world. Hit me or kick me, I’ll get a bruise. Spit on me and you may be giving me AIDS. It’s hard to imagine but it’s now more dangerous to be spit on than it is to be hit.
I’m not saying that Naomi Campbell has aids. I have no reason to think that Naomi Campbell might have AIDS, in fact I pray she doesn’t. What I do know is that the police at Heathrow take the threat of AIDS very seriously and they don’t care if you are white, red, yellow or, like Naomi Campbell, black. If you spit on them, like Naomi Campbell did, you are going to jail.
