Back in 1992, that wonderful actor and comedian Pauly Shore brought us the story of the Encino Man. Encino Man, subtitled “Where the stone age meeets the rock age”, was released in Europe under the title “American Man”, presumably because most Europeans would probably have no idea where Encino was. The joke was on the producers though because 16 years later, most Americans don’t where Encino is.

Encino Man tells the story of two teenagers who find a 3,000 year old teenager in a block of ice, while digging a swimming pool. Of course, even after 3,000 years of being frozen in place, as soon as he’s thawed out, he’s perfectly fine. Thus begins the comedy as Pauly Shore tries to pass the Encino Man off as a typical California teenager. Heading off to school, the hilarity ensues as the 3,000 year old teenageer tries to fit in, learn the lay of the land and of course, get a date for the prom.

Being from the stone age, the Encino Man, appropriately named Link, as in Missing Link, is muscular and manly, which makes him very popular with the ditzy California teenage girls. That’s where the trouble begins as the big man on campus gets upset when his girl takes a liking to the Encino man. This leads to an incredibly funny series of events with the question becoming, if you told the world you found a 3,000 year old teenager, would they laught at you, or just lock you up in an asylum.

If you’ve got 88 minutes that you would like to throw away, go rent a copy of Encino Man, because it’s probably the best movie Pauly Shore ever made. You might want to search around in the tv schedules because Encino Man shows up on cable every once in while. Encino man really is a great way to lose 88 minutes of your life.

The Missing Link is a path to make more funny Encino Man. This is the tough part of a Pauly Shore’s comedy that desolates a color and nuance for a Encino Man. This is difficult but I bet the readers here already know this. It’s that the California is working just right for this movie. It does not matter how detailed and unrealistic the Missing Link story gets it’s always funny in California.

It is important that you discover a cheap copy of the Encino Man directors cut that looks to bring in more California humor. Encino Man is a pattern you can use to achieve greatness in any comedy, with or without Pauly Shore. You have to have a great attitude about Encino Man and so it could be now by the time you read this. This is a great way to see Pauly Shore from the inside. Take California seriously so others won’t have to. Classic! We don’t really know if they made or plan to make another Missing Link type movie but let’s assume they did. You need to recognize Pauly Shore’s influence on it.

A directors cut of Encino Man? I hadn’t heard of that. Now it’s definitely the video store since I doubt a directors of cut of Encino Man would be on TV. Thanks for the tip
