Tim Russert, the NBC Washington Bureau Chief and popular moderator of Meet the Press passed away this afternoon of a heart attack. Tim Russert was born in Buffalo, New York and was 58 years old.

Tim Russert was considered by many to be the most influental journalist in Washington, but more importantly was a devoted husband and father. Tim attended all of his son Luke’s sporting events during high school and family always came first. A few weeks ago Time magazine named him one of the 100 most inflluental people in the world.

A great sports fan, Tim has season tickets to both the Washington Wizards basketball team and the Washington Nationals baseball team. His football love was the Buffalo Bills, his hometown team.

Tim Russert wrote two best selling books, “Big Russ and Me”, about his relationship with his father, and then a followup book called “Wisdom of our Fathers”, based on letters he received from people who had read Big Russ and Me.

Tim is survived by his wife Maureen and son Luke. He was a great journalist that will be missed.
