Led by the now disgraced, and under federal indictment, Barry Bonds (762 homers), the club also includes Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714), Wille Mays (660) and Sammy Sosa(609). Ken Griffey Jr. should easily pass Sosa before the end of the year.
Griffey hit his record homer while playing against the Florida Marlins in Miami Staadium. The weather in Miami was perfect for baseball and fans abandoned the Florida Resorts in order to take in the historic game.
Many of the Florida Resorts as far away as Orlands, home of Disney World and so many other great resorts, carried the radio broadcast of the game. That way baseball fans could enjoy the game, while enjoying the fun and adventure of the Orlando Resorts.
Since the Reds hold spring training in Florida, a lot of people who work at the Florida Resorts are big Reds fans, so they were able to listen to the game, without taking time off from their work to do it.
I’ve never really been a big Ken Griffey Jr fan, I grew up when his dad was playing with the Big Red Machine, but it’s great to see him finally accomplish this feat.
